The Cathedral of Saint-Denis was not the first church with elements of Gothic architecture, but it was the first to unite all of them in one building and create a new architectural “language.” Saint-Denis is considered to be the first truly Gothic Church, serving as a model for Notre-Dame and other Gothic churches across Europe.
