   Colosseum

With your audio guide playing, step through the same entrances gladiators and spectators used nearly 2,000 years ago. As you make your way through the ancient corridors and tiered seating, your narration explains how this massive amphitheater was built, how it functioned during a single day of games, and the dramatic spectacles it once hosted — from gladiatorial combat to mock naval battles. You'll learn about the emperors who funded and expanded it, the ingenious systems used to move animals and fighters up into the arena, and how the Colosseum fell into ruin and was later rediscovered. Listen at your own pace as you explore the different levels and take in views across the arena floor.

   Roman Forum

Walk the Via Sacra — the very road ancient Romans used for triumphal processions — while your audio guide narrates the stories behind the temples, arches, and government buildings that once made this the political and religious center of the empire. You'll hear about the Arch of Titus and the events it commemorates, the ruins of the Basilica of Maxentius, the Temple of Saturn where Rome's treasury was once housed, and the Arch of Septimius Severus. Your guide brings context to what would otherwise be scattered ruins, explaining how senators, emperors, and citizens used this space and how it shaped the course of Roman history.

   Palatine Hill

Climb to the legendary birthplace of Rome, where your audio guide reveals why this hill — according to myth, the very spot where Romulus and Remus were raised — became the most prestigious address in the ancient world. As you wander among the ruins of imperial palaces, including the sprawling Domus Augustana, your narration explains how Rome's emperors lived, ruled, and entertained from this commanding position above the city. You'll hear the layered history of the hill, from humble early settlements to opulent imperial residences, before reaching the Farnese Gardens for one of the best panoramic views in Rome — overlooking the Forum on one side and the city skyline on the other. Take your time here there's no rush to move on to the next stop.
