Enjoy a day trip from your accommodation in Rome to Herculaneum and Mount Vesuvius. Herculaneum is considered better preserved that its bigger and more famous sister city, Pompeii, and it can be explored entirely in a couple of hours. After Herculaneum, you'll enjoy a nice Italian lunch, or a quick bite before heading up Mount Vesuvius. The sequence of sites may vary. Your private English speaking chauffeur will meet you at your accommodation in Rome at 8.00 AM and return you at 5:30 PM. IMPORTANT: Vesuvius requires advance Time Slot Ticket bookings; missing your slot may result in no access. Closures can happen without notice due to weather. Excavations that were initiated nearly 3 centuries ago revealed well-preserved buildings with frescoes and mosaics, nymphaeum, Roman baths, gymnasiums, luxurious villas like Villa of Papyri that contained a rich library of scrolls, the opulent House of Neptune and Amphitrite, House of Deer, the House of the Beautiful Courtyard and more. Herculaneum entry tickets are approximately 11 Euros per person and can be bought on location.

Considered among the most dangerous due to its enormous eruption in 79 AD, it erupted more than three dozen times, with the most recent eruption in 1944 during WWII destroying several villages along its slopes. Since then, however, this giant has been peacefully asleep. Please Be Advised: the upward walk to the crater requires a certain level of physical fitness and ability to handle uneven terrain.
