Malatya, located in the southwest Eastern Anatolia Region, the crossroads of Central, Mediterranean, Eastern and Southeast Anatolia, is the most important apricot production region in Turkey and in the world producing 7-10% of the world’s table apricots and 80-85% of dried apricots. Although apple, pear, peach, walnut and mulberry can also be grown in this area, the fruit growers of Malatya specialize in apricot culture and still call apricot the ancient name of mish mish despite the fact that the Turkish name of apricot is kayisi.

Mount Nemrud

The mausoleum of Antiochus I (69–34 B.C.), who reigned over Commagene, a kingdom founded north of Syria and the Euphrates after the breakup of Alexander's empire, is one of the most ambitious constructions of the Hellenistic period.
