This experience will be tailored to your interests and with just your group on this private tour, your guide will focus specifically on what fascinates you the most as you discover what you want to see. The Vatican houses paintings by artists such as Da Vinci and Titian in the Pinacoteca Gallery and Picasso and Chagall in the Collection of Modern Religious Art. You will see antique statues, Roman sarcophagi, mosaics, tapestries, and many a fresco, including Raphael’s famous School of Athens. You will discover the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s famous frescoes, The Creation of Adam and the Last Judgment. In St Peter’s Basilica, you will find another of Michelangelo’s works, La Pietà.

      Your guide will take you around the Vatican Museums showing you its greatest treasures, including works by Raphael, Titian and Caravaggio, as well as tapestries, frescoes, statues and the unparalleled Sistine Chapel. From St Peter’s Basilica you will head underground to the so-called ‘Vatican Grottoes’ where a great many of the popes have been buried, including ones from the most prominent Italian families such as the Medici, Barberini, Chigi and Farnese. You will learn all about the architecture, art and history of what you see, all from your certified guide, as you marvel at the beauty of the Vatican.
