Upon meeting your driver guide at the designated location, head for Zaanse Schans, an outdoor museum including wooden homes, shops, and operational windmills from the 18th and 19th centuries. Visit the Clog Museum to observe traditional craftsmanship and wooden shoemakers in action. Learn the craft of making cheese in the Netherlands by visiting a cheese farm in Catharina Hoeve. Then a visit to the charming town of Volendam where you can walk and absorb the culture. Lunch can be arranged at a restaurant in Volendam. Please inquire. After Volendam, travel back in time to the 17th century as we walk by charming fishermen houses in Marken, the fishing harbor, and a protestant church. The remaining tour time is allotted for the travel time from pick up until drop off. We will pick up passengers from their hotel in the Amsterdam area. Cruise ports: Amsterdam or Ijmuiden. You will visit the iconic dike in Volendam with a view on the lakeside. Volendam is a former fishing town and known for its great fish specialties, the famous Dutch “Salty Haring’, ‘Smoked Eel”and Smoked Mackerel which you can purchase or arrange a lunch at a restaurant with us.
