Once home to Beguines – independent laywomen who lived a devout but unmarried life – it is now inhabited by Benedictine nuns and a few Bruges women. Your guide will explain the history of the beguinage and why it is part of UNESCO’s protected heritage. It’s an oasis of calm just a short walk from the canals and one of the most atmospheric places in Bruges.
