Here there are the ruins of many wonderful buildings of the Temple of Julius Caesar built over the spot where he was cremated, the Arch of Titus, the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate House and the Basilica of Mexentius to name a few

   You then proceed to Piazza Venezia with its famous white marble monument, Il Vittoriana, built in 1885 as a commemoration to King Victor Emmanuel II and lovingly called “The Wedding Cake” by the local population.
