Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Piazzale Michelangelo, Florence's most famous panoramic terrace. Designed in 1869 by the architect Giuseppe Poggi during the renovation of the city's walls, this square was dedicated to the great Renaissance master, Michelangelo Buonarroti. As you can see at the center, there is a large bronze monument featuring a replica of the David, surrounded by copies of the four allegories from the Medici Chapels in San Lorenzo.
