   Dover Castle

   Dover Castle commands the Strait of Dover, the shortest sea crossing between England and continental Europe, a position of strategic importance throughout history. Castle Hill was shaped into massive defenses capped by medieval walls and towers and later, from the mid 18th century, by the earthworks of a garrisoned infantry and artillery fortress. Beneath the surface, cut into the chalk of the North Downs, are networks of tunnels to enable the garrison to move, plan and live in safety. King Henry II began to build the present castle in the 1180s, and over the next 800 years its buildings, defenses and tunnels were adapted to meet the changing demands of warfare, right into the era of nuclear weapons.

• This Ticket is not a pass to any sites to visit. Your passes to all 4 sites will be sent via email separately once we receive your booking. Tours pick up and drop off at clients’ hotel. Tour pick up times start 10 minutes before 08:00. We request that you are ready and on stand by in the lobby 10 minutes before pick up time. Tours include entrance fees. Also chauffeurs provide a panoramic tour with historic highlights and luxurious transport to and from the sites visited but are not accredited tour guides. The travelers visit any other sites within the tour areas that they may wish to visit, time permitting. The driver will discuss any specific requests with passengers on the day. Unfortunately, due to UK regulations chauffeurs are unable to escort clients into historic sites and are prohibited from offering highlights within the sites. Blue badge accredited guides are available upon request (subject to availability and additional costs). All Tours are carried out by Professional drivers with many years’ experience. All our drivers and vehicles are Licenced and regulated by TFL Transport for London. We only use latest and high end model vehicles which are specifically selected for their comfort and reliability
