   The Myth of how Rome came to be is intrinsically linked to this unique building. From the sacred Temple and fields of Mars, originally outside the city walls of Rome to the founder of Romulus. The later Augustan structure still stands today in a perfect state, two thousand years later, thanks to the Church that it has become - inside the world of Basilicas converge - pagan and Christian.    Pantheon

   The exterior of the Pantheon, its columns, circular temple formation, layers of history explained (the monument allows us to see the past thus helping us visualize what is to come in the future. The dome with it's surprising and unique oculus (open to the sky) - the spot were Romulus was struck by lightning (it is said).
