Think a visit to Prague Castle means grand royal apartments and State Rooms? Unfortunately, those rooms are normally closed to the public. Interior tours typically include admission to sites such as St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica and Golden Lane. This tour takes a different approach. Prague Castle's story is written on the outside. This fully outdoor tour helps you understand how the Castle's churches, palaces, courtyards and fortifications fit together and why it remains the symbolic heart of the Czech nation. Through expert storytelling, understand how 11 centuries of kings, emperors, presidents, wars and political change shaped this vast castle complex. We do not enter the interiors and no admission ticket is required. Instead, you'll understand Prague Castle as a whole and learn what's inside, so you can decide which, if any, you want to visit afterwards. Most visitors leave Prague Castle having seen it. Our guests leave understanding it.
Most visitors leave Prague Castle having seen magnificent buildings but without truly understanding the remarkable story behind them. This experience has been created for travellers who want to go beyond sightseeing and discover how one of the world's largest castle complexes evolved over more than a thousand years. Led by an expert local guide, this outdoor walking tour reveals the history, architecture, and personalities that shaped Prague Castle, from medieval kings and emperors to the presidents of modern Czechia. Rather than rushing through crowded interiors and ticket queues, you'll gain a clear understanding of how the entire complex developed and why it remains the symbolic heart of the Czech nation. Ideal for culturally curious travellers, this tour provides the perfect orientation to Prague Castle and helps you decide which interiors, if any, you may wish to explore independently afterwards.
