Praia do Guincho is a popular Atlantic beach located between sintra and the town of Cascais. This beach was famously featured in the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, wherein James Bond rescues Contessa Teresa de Vicenzo from a suicide attempt and foils off two attackers in the surf; the beach still looks as it did in 1969. More recently, the beach served as location for the shooting of the film This Side of Resurrection. In the '90s, Guincho was one of the locations for the windsurfing world cup. Estoril is famed as a luxury entertainment destination on the Portuguese Riviera, as home of the Casino Estoril. Estoril is one of the most expensive places to live in the Iberian Peninsula. It is home to a sizable foreign expat community and known for its luxury restaurants, hotels like Hotel Estoril Palacio. During the Second World War, the region was the centre of spies and diplomatic secrecy, it became an international tourist destination both during and after the Second World War.
