Beside the abbey on the island you will have time to walk on the remparts and enjoy lunch to one of the restaurants on this incredible island.

The island has fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery. Between the fifth to the eighth century, Mont Saint-Michel belonged to the territory of Neustria and remained unconquered during the Hundred Years' War and the King Louis XI turned it into a prison. The legend says that the archangel Michael appeared in 708 to Aubert of Avranches, the bishop of Avranches, and instructed him to build a church on the rocky island.

In this day you will explore the famous city of Saint Malo. The city was founded by Gauls in the 1st century B.C. and the name is coming from a man said to have been a follower of Brendan the Navigator, Saint Malo or Maclou, an immigrant from what is now Wales.

Also, from here left Jacques Cartier, the famous sailor who explored the rivers of Canada and give this country the name from a local name "kanata"

Saint-Malo Cathedral is a Catholic Cathedral founded in dedication to Saint Vincent of Saragossa.

It was built in a mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles during the episcopacy of Jean de Châtillon (1146-1163) on the site of an ancient church founded in the 7th century. The cathedral suffered damage during World War II when the steeple toppled onto the Sacred Heart Chapel. On 21 May 1972, after 28 years of work, a ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the restoration. It is a stop on the Tro Breizh, a Catholic pilgrimage that links the towns of the seven founding saints of Brittany.
