    Reiseverlauf

    1. The Florence Duomo, officially known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, is one of Italy's most iconic architectural treasures and a symbol of the city of Florence. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the cathedral is renowned for its monumental dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, a landmark of Renaissance engineering. With its façade of white, green, and pink marble, the Duomo captivates visitors with its beauty and intricate details. The interior, though more austere, houses remarkable works of art, such as the frescoes of the dome painted by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari, depicting the Last Judgment. Climbing to the top of the dome offers spectacular panoramic views of Florence and its surroundings. The Duomo complex also includes the Baptistery of St. John, famous for its bronze doors, and Giotto’s Bell Tower, a Gothic masterpiece. Visiting the Duomo is an immersion into the history, art, and spirituality of the Renaissance.
