Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque) Built in the early 17th century, the Blue Mosque is a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture. Famous for its six minarets and stunning interior decorated with thousands of blue İznik tiles, it is still an active place of worship and a symbol of Istanbul’s skyline. Hagia Sophia Mosque Hagia Sophia is one of the most extraordinary buildings in the world. Constructed in 537 AD as a Byzantine cathedral, it was later converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest in 1453. Its massive dome and unique blend of Christian mosaics and Islamic calligraphy reflect centuries of religious and cultural history. Basilica Cistern Hidden beneath the streets of the Old City, the Basilica Cistern is a 6th-century underground water reservoir built during the reign of Emperor Justinian I.
