   Westminster

   One of the most impressive locations on this tour is Westminster Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most recognisable churches in the United Kingdom. A veritable who's who of British history, the church features the tombs of, and commemorations to, a host of British authors, playwrights, military figures and monarchs. It has also been used for the coronation of nearly every British king and queen in history, as well as for many of their funerals.

   Just a stone's throw from Westminster Abbey stands the majestic Palace of Westminster, perhaps better known as the Houses of Parliament, the cradle of British democracy. Practically next door you will also find one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, and the world's largest chiming clock, the unmistakable Big Ben. Your guide will keep you and your children entertained along the way, telling stories and anecdotes, as well as providing a range of activities for people of all ages, helping you discover the history of London while having fun at the same time!

   Whitehall

   Changing of the Guard

   Before long you will come to Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. If the London weather is kind, and if it is scheduled on the day of your tour, you may have the opportunity to witness the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony, during which the New Guard exchanges duty with and replaces the Old Guard.

   Your tour will draw to a close after you take the world's oldest underground transport system, the “Tube”, or a famous English double decker bus, to the City of London.

   Here you will be able to see the site of the most ancient part of Greater London, the remains of a section of the old London Wall built by the Romans to defend the city from invaders. Another iconic attraction that you can admire in this part of the city is St. Paul's Cathedral, a world-famous architectural masterpiece with a huge dome which is a distinctive feature of the London skyline. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes for this three-hour walking tour, and keep your camera handy and there will be fabulous photo opportunities around every corner!

• The Changing the Guard takes place between August and May every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and everyday in June and July, but it doesn't take place in the rain or in a very bad weather (the guards cancel ceremony if it rains, because the rain could damage their brass instruments)
