Lass uns durch den „Gemüsegarten“ von Venedig radeln – er produziert das gesamte Obst und Gemüse, das die hungrige Stadt verzehrt! Wir radeln durch Artischockenfelder, bewundern die Skyline von Venedig aus einer sehr ungewöhnlichen Perspektive und probieren Honig, der nur auf der Insel Sant'Erasmo produziert wird! Entdecken Sie Sant’Erasmo, die größte Insel in der venezianischen Lagune, aber nur dünn besiedelt! Tatsächlich pflügen immer noch siebenhundert Bauern ihre Felder. Sie liefern nicht nur die typischen violetten Artischocken, des Slow Food-Präsidium "Carciofo Violetto di Sant'Erasmo ", sondern auch Spargel, Kürbis, Tomaten und Karden an die Stadt Venedig. Einheimische kaufen sie auf dem Rialto-Markt und Sie können sie in jedem Restaurant in Venedig genießen. Wir werden dann die Möglichkeit haben, den hier hergestellten Spezialhonig zu verkosten, dessen Geschmack einzigartig ist! Einst ein ländlicher Rückzugsort für Aristokraten, bietet die Insel heute einen weitgehend touristenfreien Zufluchtsort für venezianische Familien, die ihre Boote an den Schlammufern festmachen und an den Sandstränden picknicken. Die Landschaft ist flach und macht das Radfahren sehr einfach. Auf der Insel findet man mehrere Bauernhöfe und ländlichen Kleinbetrieben. Hier ist es komplett anders als in Venedig, dessen Glockentürme und Kirchen auf der Skyline zu sehen sind.

    Reiseverlauf

    1. We will reach the Sant'Erasmo island, also known as the "Venice's vegetable garden", thanks to a 30 minutes Vaporetto ride through the lagoon. Once a rural retreat for aristocrats and the main source of vegetable and fruit supplies for the Republic of Venice, the island is now a tourist-free refuge for Venetian families as well as a unique natural highlight of the Northern lagoon.

    2. Once landed, we will walk through a small road passing canals and ditches, towards the bike rental place, where we can get our countryside bikes.

    3. A circular fort facing the lagoon: The tour will start from a 19th century fort sometimes used for art exhibitions and surrounded by a stagnant moat, started by the Napoleonic regime and finished by the Austrian.

    4. Biking through the island: We will bike along the lagoon, vegetables fields and saltmarshes admiring views of the San Nicolò harbour mouth at Lido island, Punta Sabbioni and passing through fields enriched by typical rural dwellings.

    5. Visit to a local honey producer: We will visit to a little family owned apiary producing local saltmarsh honey.

    6. We will reach the northern part, facing across the water and mud banks towards the islands of Burano, whose coloured houses can just be distinguished, and San Francesco del Deserto, a monastery inhabited by Franciscan monks.

    7. A church facing the lagoon: We will visit one of the few notable buildings on the island, the church, in front of the calm lagoon waters.

    8. We will get back to Venice Fondamente Nove by water bus or you can decide to stay on the island of lunch or dinner in a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lagoon.
