   The Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, located along the Via Ostiense in Rome, is one of the four papal basilicas and stands on the site where the Apostle Paul was buried. Founded in the fourth century by Emperor Constantine, it was rebuilt after a fire in 1823, maintaining the grandiose early Christian style. The interior is characterized by a vast nave with imposing colonnades and splendid apse mosaics. A special feature of the basilica is the series of medallions with portraits of all the popes, from St. Peter to the current pontiff.
