   The Uffizi Gallery

   The Uffizi Gallery is one of the main attractions when visiting Florence. Built in 1560 and known as the world's oldest museum, it was designed by the famous Renaissance architect Giorgio Vasari. The grand duke of Tuscany, Cosimo I de Medici, decided to re-establish the authority of the Medici family.
