   Murano Island

   Murano Island is renowned for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition.    Burano is located in the Venetian Lagoon, and like its neighbor Venice, seven kilometers to the south, it is actually a locality made up of several small islands connected by bridges. Situated near Torcello at the northern end of the lagoon, it is known for its glassware and lacework.
