   Discover the enchanting Basilica Cistern, Istanbul’s ancient underground water reservoir built in 532 during the reign of Emperor Justinian I. Hidden beneath the streets of the Old Town near Hagia Sophia, this vast chamber features dim lighting, vaulted brick ceilings and hundreds of marble columns reflected in still waters — creating a mysterious and cinematic atmosphere.
