1. 1

   Stonehenge

Together with its surrounding prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge remains a powerful witness to the ancient civilizations that created it. Many theories have been proposed over the years about the function of Stonehenge. Is it the fossilized remains of ancient giants, a prehistoric temple, or a huge solar calendar? The only thing we can say for certain about Stonehenge is that we don’t know its true purpose, and maybe never will, which makes this mysterious place even more compelling. As a Tour Britannia customer you will avoid the long queues that build up at the ticket offices, even for pre-booked visitors. Tickets will be obtained on arrival by your guide who will also explain the background history of the stones, and generally help you to make the most of your time at this very special place.
