   Murano Island

   Murano Island is celebrated for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition.    Burano lies within the Venetian Lagoon, and like its southern neighbor Venice, seven kilometers away, it is a community of small islands interconnected by bridges. Situated near Torcello in the northern part of the lagoon, Burano is known for its exquisite glass and lacework.
