Today, set out for the Oeste (West) region, located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Montejunto Mountain range. Featuring a landscape dominated by towering mountains, expansive seas and verdant fields planted with vines and fruit trees, the Oeste is commonly known as one of the primary fruit-producing regions in Portugal. Hidden in this region, however, is a wealth of architecture, gastronomy, history and traditions waiting to be discovered. Begin your day’s adventure with private visits to two of the most emblematic wine estates in western Portugal, Quinta da Boa Esperança and Casa Santos Lima, where you'll sample several fine wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
Casa Santos Lima is located in Alenquer, some 40 km north of Lisbon, and produces quaffable, value-driven wines of excellent calibre. Founded at the turn of the 20th century by Joaquim Santos Lima, one of the most renowned producers and exporters of his day, the estate is now helmed by his granddaughter Maria João and great-grandson José Luis who assumed leadership in 1990. Since then the estate has undergone many technological improvements as well as quite a bit of replanting, to elevate the quality of the juice.

In the cellars of Quinta da Boa Esperança, the wine is made with great commitment by the people who have lived here for hundreds of years, and who have a deep knowledge and affection for this land. Through the application of ancient knowledge and in harmony with nature, this wine estate has created an authentic wine which truly reflects its heritage.
