Monument to the Discoveries
The Monument to the Discoveries, located in Lisbon, Portugal, is an iconic monument that pays homage to the Portuguese Age of Discoveries of the 15th and 16th centuries. Visiting it offers a rich historical and cultural experience.
The structure is shaped like a caravel, with prominent historical figures carved into its sides, including Infante Dom Henrique, navigators, cartographers, warriors, colonizers, evangelizers, chroniclers and artists.
Furthermore, we will be able to admire a large marble compass rose 50 meters in diameter on the ground in front of the monument, with a world map illustrating the routes of Portuguese discoveries.
