The Plaza Hotel, built in 1907, has been a prominent filming location for many movies, thanks to its elegant French Renaissance-style exterior that epitomizes New York luxury. It was the main setting for "Eloise at the Plaza" (2003), based on a 1950s children’s book series, featuring Julie Andrews as Eloise’s nanny. The hotel is also featured in the 2013 adaptation of "The Great Gatsby", where key scenes unfold, including Jay Gatsby’s confrontation with Tom Buchanan. "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" prominently uses The Plaza as Kevin McAllister’s luxurious hideout, with a memorable cameo by then-owner Donald Trump. Additionally, "It Could Happen To You" and "Bride Wars" also showcase various stunning interiors of The Plaza, highlighting its iconic status in film.
