La cité antique de Troie Confliguée depuis des milliers d’années et inscrite aujourd’hui sur la liste du patrimoine culturel mondial de l’UNESCO, Troie continue de nous inspirer par son histoire. Au fil des millénaires, le détroit des Dardanelles a été le théâtre d’innombrables guerres en raison de sa position stratégique entre deux continents (l’Europe et l’Asie) et deux mers (la Méditerranée et la mer Noire). De la guerre de Troie, qui aurait eu lieu en 1180 av. J.-C. et qui a été relatée par le poète épique anatolien Homère dans son immortelle Iliade, à la bataille de Gallipoli lors de la Première Guerre mondiale, l’objectif a toujours été le même : régner sur l’Est et l’Ouest en contrôlant les Dardanelles.

The commentary is filled with mythical stories of the site and surrounding areas while filling you in on the history of the excavations, the excavators and their findings. At the site you’ll be shown around: Dardanelle strait, A replica of the wooden horse that you can climb into for a photo. Excavation information centre which holds exhibits from the work underway. The fortification walls of Troy Vl with its tower and gateway entrance. Temple of Athena – the focal point of a great annual festival in honour of the goddess Athena. Schliemann’s trench – the discoverer of Troy? The entrance ramp to Troy ll. The sanctuary – an important religious centre of its time. The odeon – intended for the presentation of musical performances. Current excavations in progress. Late Lunch in Eceabat After lunch, drive to Winery.
