Depending on your pickup location, the drive can take anywhere from a few minutes to approximately 45 minutes.

   Take some free time to explore the charming streets of Sintra's historic centre filled with traditional Portuguese character.

   Browse local shops selling handcrafted pottery, ceramics, hand-painted tiles (azulejos), cork products and other authentic souvenirs. Be sure to stop by one of the famous pastry shops to taste Sintra's traditional specialties—the delicious Travesseiro and Queijada. If you're feeling hungry, you'll also find a wide selection of excellent local restaurants, cafés and wine bars where you can enjoy a relaxed meal. Don't hesitate to ask your guide for recommendations —they'll be happy to suggest some of their favourite local spots based on your tastes! Along the way, admire some of Sintra's most iconic landmarks, including the National Palace, the Moorish Castle and the elegant Biester Palace, while your guide shares the fascinating history behind each one.

   Pena National Palace

   Perched high above the misty hills of Sintra, the colorful Pena Palace is one of Portugal's most enchanting landmarks and a true symbol of Romanticism. With its whimsical architecture and breathtaking views over the surrounding forests and coastline, it feels like a palace from a fairytale. This is one of the most popular attractions that can be included in your private and flexible itinerary, depending on your interests, available time and pace you wish to enjoy for your day. The visit to the Grounds, Gardens or Palace is self-guided. Your guide will provide recommendations before your visit, and you will have free time to explore at your own pace. Admission tickets are not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately. For this private experience, we generally recommend purchasing the Park of Pena ticket rather than the interior Palace ticket, to enjoy the most scenic areas with greater flexibility and avoid being restricted by a specific interior entrance time.

• PLEASE NOTE: - On this tour, depending on the option you choose (Half Day or Full Day), you are able to visit either one Palace for the 'Half Day Option' or two Palaces for the 'Full Day Option'. - The "½ Day Tour + Pena Park Tickets" option includes in the final price the tickets to visit the Park of Pena (access to gardens and Palace Terraces, not the interior rooms). - This way you are able to spend some time inside the Palaces and Gardens of your choice without rushing, while still having some time left to let our guide show you the rest of the Palaces from the outside, stopping at certain strategic viewpoints and other points of interest - If you would like to extend your experience beyond the scheduled duration to include additional stops or more time at the attractions, your guide will be happy to accommodate whenever possible. Additional time is charged at a flat rate of €65 per hour. - Sintra has a wide selection of monuments available for visiting. If you are unsure which one to select to visit on the inside, you can just ask our guides for recommendations! - If you choose to select Quinta da Regaleira for visiting on the inside, then it is highly recommended to purchase the tickets online via the official websites ahead of time, because they sell out. - The tickets are sold using hourly time slots, so if you're not sure which to choose, you can send us a message asking for assistance.
