Buckingham Palace is a working royal palace, meaning its main interior attractions are only accessible to the public during specific times of the year. For the 2026 season, the grand Summer Opening runs from 9 July to 27 September.However, several fascinating attractions located directly on the palace grounds are accessible year-round.
1. The State Rooms (Summer Only)These 19 opulent reception rooms form the heart of the working palace, used by the Royal Family to entertain heads of state and official guests.
Buckingham Palace Garden (Summer Only)The largest private garden in London spans 39 acres and is described as a walled oasis. If you book a Garden Highlights Tour, you can see the 3-acre lake, the vibrant Herbaceous Border, the historic Rose Garden, and the massive Waterloo Vase. A summer pop-up café is also set up on the West Terrace overlooking the lawns.
