You’ll have free time to explore the town, and the visit—including its magnificent towers—will take approximately an hour. San Gimignano is a small, walled medieval hill town not far from Siena, known as the “Town of Fine Towers.” In the Middle Ages, over 70 towers stood here, and today, it’s like an open-air museum, where walking through the streets feels like stepping back in time. The town is also famous for its saffron, “Golden Ham,” and Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a white wine made from the ancient Vernaccia grape that grows on the region’s sandstone hillsides. Be sure to stop in the main square to try “the best gelato in the world” at Gelateria Dondoli, and as you wander the charming streets, you’ll be able to admire the remarkable work of skilled local artisans. After the visit, we’ll return to your location
