We begin in an authentic local café, where I introduce my book, How to Read a Turkish Carpet, and explain the history, symbolism, materials, and craftsmanship of Turkish carpets. Our meeting point is the German Fountain in the heart of Sultanahmet, just a few minutes’ walk from the Sultanahmet Tramway Station (T1 line). If arriving by taxi, ask to be dropped off at Sultanahmet Meydanı (German Fountain), a well-known landmark.
