Take the wheel of a Can-Am Maverick X3 and drive yourself across the red dunes outside Dubai. This is the solo rate: the buggy is yours alone and no passenger travels with you, so every turn and every climb is your call. A guide rides ahead in the convoy and picks the line through the sand, and you follow at your own pace. The X3 is automatic and four-wheel drive. There is no gear to shift and the engine will not stall, so first-time drivers are up to speed within minutes of the safety briefing. Helmet, goggles and gloves are handed out before you start. Hotel pick-up and drop-off anywhere in Dubai is included, and the drive itself runs about one hour on the sand.
