The ruins here indicate the importance of the Forum, as a centre of religion, politics and commerce. You’ll see the Temple of Julius Caesar, built on the site of his cremation, the Arch of Titus, House of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate House, the Basilica of Maxentius and much more

   Vittoriano e Palazzo Venezia

   One of the most recognisable buildings in the city, Il Vittoriano, is your next stop. It was built in 1885 in honour of King Victor Emmanuel II. The impressive neoclassical building towers over the surrounding area, and it’s easy to see why it was nicknamed the “Wedding Cake” by the locals.
