After that, the chronological structure is abandoned, and walk past scenes of the Red Light District in the 1990s, the Zaanse Schans (including working windmills), and a Canal Parade scene along the city’s canals. Through video screens and audio, learn more about each setting. Not all scenes are lighthearted: the Nieuwmarkt during the Second World War has also been recreated, complete with miniature barbed wire surrounding the square, as well as a scale model of the Anne Frank House. Elsewhere, visitors encounter a dollhouse-style Rembrandt House and an imposing ship from the Dutch Golden Age.
