Departing DA Rome, the guided tour takes you to Tivoli, a town rich in history and artistic beauty, located about 30 km from the capital. Villa d’Este is a splendid Renaissance residence located in Tivoli, built starting from 1550 by the will of Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este. It is famous all over the world for its extraordinary Italian gardens and magnificent monumental fountains, powered DA an ingenious hydraulic system without the use of pumps. The Villa is a masterpiece of the late Renaissance, with elegant frescoed rooms and a terraced garden full of water features, waterfalls, artificial caves and sculptures.
