   Fátima

   The Shrine of Fatima, formally named by the Catholic Church as the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, is a Marian shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, located on the site of the Cova da Iria, in the city of Fatima, Ourém, Portugal . The Sanctuary of Fátima is, par excellence, a place of Christian pilgrimage and Catholic devotion, preserving the memory of the events that led to its foundation, namely the apparitions of Our Lady to the three little shepherds - Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto - in 1917 Its magnitude and relevance from the religious point of view has long been widely recognized nationally and internationally. By express will of the Holy Apostolic See, this is a National Shrine. It is also one of the most important Marian shrines in the world belonging to the Catholic Church and the largest international religious tourism destination, receiving around six million visitors a year. He was distinguished with three papal gold roses and visited by Popes Paul VI (1967), John Paul II (1982, 1991 and 2000), Benedict XVI (2010) and Francisco (2017).

   Batalha Monastery

   The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória (better known as the Monastery of Batalha) is a monastery located in the town of Batalha, in the region of the Center, in the province of Beira Litoral, Portugal, which was built in 1386 by King João I of Portugal [2] in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for the victory against the Castilian rivals in the battle of Aljubarrota. This monastery of the Order of St. Dominic was built over two centuries until about 1563 during the reign of seven Portuguese kings, although from 1388 the first Dominican friars lived there. Late Gothic Portuguese architecture, or Manueline style, is considered a World Heritage by UNESCO, and on July 7, 2007 it was elected as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.    Nazaré is a Portuguese village, in the district of Leiria, home to the homonymous municipality with about 10 300 inhabitants. Located in the province of Extremadura integrating the Intermunicipal Community of the West in the region of the Center.

   The town is soothes of a small municipality with 82,43 km ² of area and 15 158 inhabitants (2011), subdivided in 3 parishes. The municipality is surrounded to the north, east and south by the county of Alcobaça and to the west borders with Atlantic Ocean. The present urban space of the village brings together three ancient settlements, Pederneira, Sítio da Nazaré and Praia da Nazaré, and new neighborhoods of the second half of the 20th century, such as Urbisol or Rio Novo, arising as a result of the natural expansion of the three primitive nuclei.    The Nazaré Lighthouse

   The Nazaré Lighthouse is a Portuguese lighthouse located in the Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo, Nazaré, West region. It is a round, bright red, iron lantern, with a service balcony, mounted on the wall of the fort. The light is on for two seconds and off for one second.    In the context of the Christian Reconquest of the Peninsula, the forces of King D. Afonso Henriques (1112 - 85), after the conquests of Santarém and Lisbon (1147), found lively resistance to conquer the village and its castle, which eventually happened through an arcade (10 January 1148). The castle has been documented since 1153.

   Restored definitively in the reign of D. Sancho I (1185 - 1211), works were carried out in the castle (according to epigraphic inscription in the Tower of the Facho), when the Villa received its charter of foral (1195). His son and successor, D. Afonso II (1211 - 23), donated the village and the respective castle to D. Urraca, his wife (1210). The village and its castle remained faithful to D. Sancho II (1223 - 48), when the crisis of its deposition, resisting victoriously, in 1246, the assaults of the forces of the Count of Bologna, future king D. Afonso III (1248 - 1279). This resistance earned the Villa the epithet of noble and always loyal, which remains to this day.
