The Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Gallery was originally designed in the 16th century by Giorgio Vasari for Cosimo I de’ Medici to house the administrative offices of Florence. Over time, the powerful Medici family used parts of the building to display their extraordinary art collection. Today, the Uffizi is one of the world’s most renowned museums, home to masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and other great artists of the Italian Renaissance.
