   La Fenice Opera House

   Formerly one of the seven great theatres in the city, today La Fenice is the only opera house in Venice. However, it was Giuseppe Verdi who was most closely linked to La Fenice and Venetian memory.

   Grand Canal

   Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute

   Here, as you enter the Grand Canal, you can admire the church of Madonna della Salute. The first thing that stands out is how impressive the building is, strategically located at the entrance of the Grand Canal and facing the rest of the city in all directions, thanks to its circular shape. Today, every November 21, the city celebrates the feast of Madonna della Salute in memory of the end of the plague.

   Punta della Dogana separates the Grand Canal from the Giudecca Canal. Due to its strategic location, it housed customs and salt warehouses. During the 15th century, maritime customs, formerly located near the Arsenal, was moved to the western end of the Dorsoduro neighborhood.
