   Ponte Vecchio

   From the windows of the Uffizi's second-floor corridor, you can enjoy a stunning, privileged view of the Ponte Vecchio, the "Old Bridge." This medieval stone bridge, built in 1345, is famous for the shops built right along its length. Originally home to stinky butchers, a decree by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de' Medici in 1593 replaced them with goldsmiths and jewelers to improve the decorum of the area.
