   Continue along the tree-lined terrace between St Barbara's Cathedral and the former Jesuit College, one of the most photogenic corners of Kutná Hora. Pause at the Statue of St Florian (Socha svatého Floriána), patron saint of protection against fire, one of several Baroque statues that line this elevated walkway.    Kutná Hora

   Arriving in the heart of Kutná Hora's UNESCO-listed Old Town, wander cobbled lanes and quiet squares that once belonged to one of medieval Europe's wealthiest silver-mining settlements. Your guide points out the Gothic and Baroque facades, hidden courtyards, and grand merchant houses that made this compact town rich enough to rival Prague itself in the Middle Ages. A highlight along the way is the Vlašský dvůr (Italian Court), the town's former royal palace and mint, named for the Italian metalworkers brought in to strike the famous Prague groschen silver coins here in the 14th century.
