Next stop will be the amazing Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore, or as the locals know it, The Duomo (cathedral), the first of its kind in terms of dimension and structure, and a symbol of the Renaissance in Florence. The dome was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi and it is a major architectural masterpiece which was way ahead of its time.
