The idea of the construction of the Monument to Cristo Rei comes in 1934, during a visit to Brazil by the then Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira. In total, about 40 thousand tons of concrete were used. After being built, it was carved by hand in a work of minutia, developed more than a hundred meters from the ground.
