   This church is the second oldest in Paris and has roots back to the Merovingian period. It was built on top of the ruins of an Ancient Roman temple dedicated to the god Mars, which is likely where the neighbourhood of Montmartre gets its name from.

   See the stunning Sacre-Coeur Basilica and its sparkling white facade. Located on the highest point of Montmartre, this basilica's Romano-Byzantine architecture is unique in Paris, where Gothic French churches are more common.
