You’ll admire Michelangelo’s Pietà, one of the most moving sculptures ever created, while learning the story behind its creation and why it remains one of the Vatican’s greatest masterpieces. • As you continue through the Basilica, your guide will explain the significance of Bernini’s Baldachin, the monumental bronze canopy standing beneath the Dome and marking the high altar, built directly above the tomb of St. Peter.    St. Peter's Basilica

   • The experience continues with access to St. Peter’s Dome, one of the most iconic viewpoints in Rome. • After entering the Dome, you’ll first admire the interior view from above, looking down into the Basilica from a unique balcony beneath Michelangelo’s magnificent cupola. Your guide will explain the symbolism, scale, and engineering behind the Dome before the climb continues upward. • You’ll then ascend to the top of the Dome, using an elevator for part of the journey followed by a series of steps. The final stretch is narrow and steep, adding to the sense of adventure and achievement as you make your way upward. • At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views over Vatican City and Rome.
