En este recorrido de medio día por las catacumbas fuera de Roma, visitará las catacumbas de San Calixto y aprenderá por qué el entierro de esta manera se convirtió en una necesidad.  Recorrerás una parte de la Via Appia Antica, la llamada "Vía Apia", una de las carreteras más antiguas e importantes de la Antigua Roma utilizada para expediciones militares y a lo largo de la cual miles de esclavos fueron crucificados durante la revuelta de Espartaco.  También verá el Circo de Majencio y uno de los acueductos de Roma, vital para proporcionar suficiente agua para la capital de un imperio, y conocerá su complicada estructura y construcción.

    1. Catacombs of Rome

    2. Second in size to the more famous Circus Maximus, Maxentius in the best preserved Circus in Rome. Built between 306 and 312, Circus of Maxentius rests between the basilica and catacombs of San Sebastiano and the tomb of Cecilia Metella.

    4. The Appian Way (completed in 312 B.C)

      The Appian Way (completed in 312 B.C) was one of the earliest and longest roads of Ancient Rome. It was also the most significant- both symbolically and strategically. Symbolically in that all roads really did lead to Rome (like that famous saying) most likely and maybe even literally at this point. And strategically because, the Appian Way was the main route for all supplies and the military, connecting Rome to Brindisi in southeast Italy.

    5. Admire the magnificent Claudian Aqueduct, regarded as one of the 4 greatest aqueducts of Rome. Erected in 52 AD, this aqueduct spanned over 40 miles long, most of which was underground.

      By the 3rd century AD, Rome had a total of 11 aqueducts since original construction began. Yet what remains is a breathtaking vision of one of the most incredible engineering feats of its time.
