Almourol Castle: Perched on a steep islet in the middle of the Tagus River, Almourol Castle is possibly the most scenic monument in Portugal. The Sanctuary of Fátima is one of the largest Marian pilgrimage centers in the world. Built on the site of the 1917 apparitions, the place impresses with its scale and silence.
