   Enter the quiet Capuchin complex beneath this 17th-century church, home to the friars for centuries. With your ticket scanned and audio guide in hand, learn about the Capuchin order, their long history in Rome, and why these underground chapels were created.

   Capuchin Crypt

   Continue through the museum spaces, where displays explain the friars' humble traditions and daily life. This background makes the crypts below far more meaningful for first-time visitors.

   Capuchin Crypt

   Descend into the first bone-decorated chapels, where skulls and vertebrae form arches, patterns, and simple symbols. As you move along the narrow corridor, the audio guide explains how these arrangements connect to themes of faith, humility, and mortality. Further inside, you reach the most elaborate space of all, where chandeliers, altars, and wall designs are shaped entirely from friars' bones. Take your time in the Crypt of the Skulls and the Crypt of the Pelvises before following the route back to the exit.

Meeting point

Your Capuchin Crypt entrance tickets will be emailed within 24 hours. Go directly to the museum (Via Vittorio Veneto, 27) with your digital tickets. Tickets are valid anytime during opening hours. Arrive at least 15 minutes before closing or entry may be denied.

• Your official Capuchin Crypt tickets will be emailed to you within 24 hours of booking. These are digital tickets, so you can head straight to the entrance and visit at any time during opening hours (no need to meet a guide).
• If you’d prefer a little help getting oriented, our Welcome Staff will be available at your scheduled tour time at Piazza Barberini 23, in front of the Fontana del Tritone (near Barberini metro station, Line A). Please note, staff are only present at your selected time.
• Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women to enter the Capuchin Crypts.
• This tour involves walking, stairs, and uneven terrain. It is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. A soft baby carrier is recommended.

Head straight to the crypt entrance with your emailed tickets and enter at any time during opening hours. - If you would prefer a little help getting oriented, our welcome staff will be available at Piazza Barberini 23, in front of the Fontana del Tritone, at your scheduled tour time. There they can exchange your voucher for your entry tickets and point you toward the entrance. - Please note that staff are only present at your selected time slot. If you skip the meeting point or arrive at a different time, simply use the digital tickets from your email instead. - Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women to enter the Capuchin Crypts. Guests not meeting the dress code may be refused entry. No hats inside. - A valid government-issued ID is required for all guests, including children. The name on your booking must match your ID exactly, or entry will be denied without a refund. - Only small bags or backpacks (max 55 x 35 x 20 cm) are permitted. Large luggage, wheeled bags, tripods, and glass bottles are prohibited. There is no on-site storage; please leave large items at your accommodation.
